It is time. I am going to try my hand at writing some fitness and lifestyle blogs for our hardCORE community. I hope you all find joy, entertainment, humor and/or inspiration in my words. My blogs will sound like dialog, like we are talking and that’s what my sound is. I don’t want to sound preachy or self-righteous, so pretend like we are chatting as you read.
As most of you know, I am a Mom and Wife and those are two things I cherish most in my life. That being said, it can be very easy to lose one’s sense of self while caring for, loving and protecting your family; suddenly everyone’s else’s needs trump your own and you happily do it because you love those you care for.
About 9 months after my first daughter was born (nearly 13 years ago), I got back into my fitness regiment and never looked back. I was home alone with my baby and I needed something for my mental and physical health, so I teamed up with a girlfriend of mine to commit to 20 minutes daily and from there habits were born. My brain and body began to yearn for that movement as a way to not only feel good, but also as a way to think clearly. These workouts became sacred. To add, and this will be another blog post- my girls watched me, and I didn’t realize it in the moment, but they saw and retained everything. From every grunt to every bead of sweat to listening to me explain why i exercise, they experienced it all with me.
Many think to themselves- 20 minutes for a workout will do nothing… that’s not enough time to see real change. Let me tell you something, that thought process is MALARKEY. Every second you dedicate to your fitness is enough. And it’s not all about “calories burned”, it’s about habits and commitments you create to healthify (a Nicole word) your life. One of the biggest barriers to exercise is one’s own mentality. This isn’t an “all or nothing” experience, it’s “anything is better than nothing” journey because any positive decision you make for your life is only seen as a win in my mind. Pressing play and doing work regardless of how much time you have is what starts the change.
My program has classes as short as 10 minutes and stacks up to 40 minutes and then you add in your cardio. This is a fitness program that can and will help your life in a very positive way. So, no matter how much time you have you can move and grow in a positive way without the stress of time. Let’s take the small steps to create big changes in our lives! Check out my monthly calendar
